Cheoin-gu District of Yongin Special City Allows Parking on Roads Near Yongin Central Market and Baekam Market Until the 27th for Chuseok

Cheoin-gu District of Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 17th that it will temporarily allow parking on roads near traditional markets to enhance parking convenience for citizens visiting traditional markets during Chuseok and to help revitalize the local economy.

The district has been temporarily allowing parking on roads surrounding Yongin Central Market and Baekam Market since the 11th.

The permitted parking sections are as follows: △Yongin Central Market Kim-ryang-jang Station Intersection to Yongin Central Market Station Intersection, both sides 900m △Baekam Market, Baekam-myeon Administrative Welfare Center Intersection to Baekam Bridge Front Intersection, both sides 350m, with parking allowed until the 27th.

Additionally, the district has designated the Yongin Intersection to Cheoin-gu Office section in both directions as a temporary parking permit section to enhance parking convenience around Yongin Central Market.

This additional designation came after merchants requested an expansion of temporary parking permit sections during a meeting between Mayor Lee Sang-il and the Yongin Central Market Merchants Association on the 14th, in which merchants raised concerns about insufficient parking space due to the demolition of the Second Public Parking Lot.

Mayor Lee Sang-il stated, "As citizens and merchants visiting the market ahead of the Chuseok holiday may experience parking difficulties due to the Second Public Parking Lot demolition project, I request that relevant departments actively coordinate with the police to expand temporary parking permit sections on roads near traditional markets."

Following this, the district coordinated with the police to temporarily allow parking on the Yongin Intersection to Cheoin-gu Office section in both directions from the 16th to the 23rd.

Users of traditional markets can park for up to 2 hours from the time of parking in the temporary parking permit sections. The district will verify parking duration using existing fixed closed-circuit television (CCTV) for illegal parking enforcement.

However, even during the temporary parking permit period, absolute no-parking zones including child protection zones, crosswalks, street corners at intersections, areas around fire facilities, bus stops, and sidewalks are excluded from parking permit targets and will be subject to enforcement as before.

A district official stated, "We are temporarily allowing parking on roads near markets so that citizens can conveniently use traditional markets during Chuseok and vitality can be added to local commerce," and added, "We ask citizens to comply with permitted sections and times and actively cooperate in ensuring traffic safety and protecting pedestrians."
