Pyeongtaek City Reaches Collective Agreement with Public Service Workers' Union

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Pyeongtaek City signed the '2021 Collective Agreement and Wage Agreement' on the 24th with the attendance of 20 labor-management negotiation committee members, including Mayor Jung Jang-seon and Kim Sung-hwan, Chairman of the National Democratic Labor Union.

Both labor and management sides reached final agreement through 11 rounds of collective bargaining and 4 rounds of wage negotiations since June on expansion of holidays, enhancement of maternity protection and work-life balance support, improvements in working conditions and treatment, enhancement of welfare benefits, and 2021 wage increases.

The city side stated, "Although there were differences of opinion between labor and management during negotiations, we proceeded with mutual understanding and consideration, leading to today's agreement."

Kim Sung-hwan, chairman of the labor side, said, "I appreciate the management side for their efforts in reaching today's agreement," and added, "Going forward, we will do our best to not only improve the treatment of union members but also fulfill our duties more faithfully."

Mayor Jung Jang-seon said, "We will faithfully implement the agreement signed today," and stated, "I hope that labor and management will continue to work together to move one step closer to improving the treatment of our Pyeongtaek City employees, enhancing working conditions, and achieving co-prosperity and common goals between labor and management."
