Mayor Kim Sung-je of Uiwang, Discusses Key Issues with Minister Won Hee-ryong of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Mayor Kim Sung-je of Uiwang visited the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 26th, met with Minister Won Hee-ryong, and proposed 6 key pending issues.
The proposed agenda items included: △support for GTX-C stop at Uiwang Station in the Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan new city and construction of an integrated transit hub; △support for building a metropolitan railway network in Uiwang; △support for improving citizen participation-based urban development project systems; △partial amendment of the "Guidelines for Restoration and Maintenance of Green Belt Damage Sites"; △partial change of the project scope for restoration of damaged sites at Gocheon Public Land District; and △changes to rental housing supply types for the Uiwang Baekun Valley urban development project, totaling 6 items.
At the meeting, Mayor Kim Sung-je emphasized, "As the number of users and traffic volume around Uiwang Station have increased due to development projects in the Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan new city development and surrounding areas, construction costs for the GTX-C stop at Uiwang Station and costs for building an integrated transit hub should be reflected in the metropolitan traffic improvement measures for the three cities of Uiwang, Gunpo, and Ansan."
He also proposed extending the Wirye-Gwacheon Line to Uiwang Station, early construction of the Dongtan-Indeokwon Line and the Gyeonggang Line (Wolgot-Pangyo) double-track railway for systematic railroad transport network construction, and suggested improvements to related systems for promoting citizen participation-based urban development projects and expanding the scope of Green Belt damage restoration projects to resolve long-pending urban planning facilities.
Additionally, he proposed changing the project scope excluding neighborhood commercial facilities in the area for smooth implementation of the Gocheon damage restoration project, while actively requesting changes to rental housing supply types to resolve long-pending unsold units in the Baekun Valley urban development project.
Mayor Kim Sung-je stated, "To resolve citizen inconveniences and promote Uiwang's urban development, swift resolution of these key issues is necessary," and added, "We look forward to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's active interest and support in the future."
In response, Minister Won Hee-ryong said, "We will thoroughly review the key pending issues of Uiwang City through relevant departments and actively support them."
