Kim Dong-yeon: "I Will Make Efforts to Push Forward Reconstruction and Remodeling of First-Phase New Cities at a Faster Pace"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park No-hun] Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon visited the Ilsan New City site and announced news of inspecting aging housing.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon shared through SNS on the 26th, "Following Bundang in Seongnam City recently, I visited a 30-year-old apartment in Ilsan New City, Goyang City this morning," and stated, "After touring the site, I was able to confirm that residents' right to survival is being greatly threatened due to not only water leaks and exterior wall cracks, but also cases where ceilings have collapsed. Swift action is needed."

Governor Kim said, "Gyeonggi Province will make efforts so that reconstruction or remodeling of first-phase new cities can be pushed forward at a faster pace," and "We will also pursue improvements to the housing environment of public housing that is more deteriorated than the first-phase new cities," promising improvements to the residential environment.

<Visiting the Ilsan New City Site>
Following my recent visit to Bundang in Seongnam City, I visited a 30-year-old apartment in Ilsan New City, Goyang City this morning. This is because I need to meet more residents, listen to their opinions, and see more of the site in order to develop detailed policies.
This visit was made more meaningful as National Assembly Member Han Jun-ho from Goyang joined me, and Goyang Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of the People Power Party accompanied me.
After touring the site, I was able to confirm that residents' right to survival is being greatly threatened due to not only water leaks and exterior wall cracks, but also cases where ceilings have collapsed. Swift action is needed.
Gyeonggi Province will make efforts so that reconstruction or remodeling of first-phase new cities can be pushed forward at a faster pace. We will also pool our strength with five new cities including Goyang. We will not spare necessary budget support.
Rather than simple reconstruction, we will work to transform these into future-oriented cities that can respond to smart mobility and climate change. We will also pursue improvements to the housing environment of public housing that is more deteriorated than the first-phase new cities.
Gyeonggi Province will make continuous efforts to improve residents' housing environment and enhance housing welfare.
