Mayors' Conference Held for Hashanbong Memorial Park Construction in Hwaseong

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] Hwaseong City held a 'Mayors' Conference' on the 31st with mayors from six cities including Hwaseong, Bucheon, Ansan, Anyang, Siheung, and Gwangmyeong that participated in the construction of Hashanbong Memorial Park in Hwaseong.

The 'First Mayors' Conference of the 8th Popular Election Term' held at Hashanbong Memorial Park in Hwaseong was attended by Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong, Mayor Cho Yong-ik of Bucheon, Mayor Lee Min-geun of Ansan, Mayor Choi Dae-ho of Anyang, Mayor Lim Byung-taek of Siheung, and Mayor Park Seung-won of Gwangmyeong, among others, to discuss measures for the stable operation of the memorial park.

At the conference, based on the results of a 'Feasibility Study on Ossuary and Parking Lot' conducted from May to August, discussions were held on the construction of insufficient facilities and measures for cost-sharing for construction expenses. It was also reported that discussions were held regarding the dispatch of municipal officials from each city to Hashanbong Memorial Park in Hwaseong.

Additionally, marking the first anniversary of the opening of Hashanbong Memorial Park in Hwaseong, operating cost-sharing and settlement were conducted according to the usage ratio of each city.

Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong stated, "Hashanbong Memorial Park in Hwaseong is the final welfare service for citizens in the southwestern Gyeonggi region of 3.83 million," and added, "We will do our best to continuously improve facilities so that citizens do not experience inconvenience in their use."

Meanwhile, Hashanbong Memorial Park in Hwaseong, which opened in July of last year, provides citizens from six cities with one-stop services from funeral arrangements through cremation to enshrinement at affordable costs, and has played a role in preventing cremation crises caused by an increase in deaths from COVID-19.
