Yongin City's Gongse-dong Community Garden Doubles Plots: "Welcome, Citizen Farmers, to Cultivate Your Vegetable Garden"

[Suwon Ilbo=Park No-hun, Reporter] Yongin Special City is recruiting 800 citizen farmers to cultivate vegetable gardens this year at the Gongse-dong Community Garden (around 216 Gongse-dong, Giheung-gu).

According to Yongin City on the 25th, the Gongse-dong Community Garden has expanded its garden scale compared to last year, more than doubling the number of plots available for lease.

The plots are divided into individual (770 plots) and group (30 plots) categories.

Individual plots are approximately 5 pyeong (14㎡) in size, requiring an annual usage fee of 10,000 won. Group plots are approximately 14 pyeong (42㎡) in size with a usage fee of 30,000 won.

The city plans to prioritize leasing 40 of the individual plots to people with disabilities, multicultural families, and families with three or more children.

Applicants must be household heads or organizations with addresses in Yongin City as of the announcement date.

To apply, visit the Yongin Integrated Reservation System (https://www.yongin.go.kr/resve/) or visit Gongse-dong Community Garden directly between the 13th and 17th of next month to complete registration.

The city will conduct a random drawing of applicants, then verify submitted documents and payment of usage fees to select final recipients by March, and will announce them on the Yongin City Agricultural Technology Center website.

Those selected as garden users must complete pre-education and submit an implementation agreement, after which they can freely cultivate from April through the end of November.

A city official stated, "We have significantly expanded the Gongse-dong Community Garden from 2,537 pyeong (8,389㎡) last year to 12,100 pyeong (40,000㎡) and more than doubled the number of plots available for lease, and we expect many citizens to apply."
