Pastor Kim Jin-Hong's Morning Meditation Causes of Family Breakdown (2)
In this meditation, I will discuss the fifth cause of family breakdown.
Many cases of family collapse occur due to parents' ignorance and irresponsibility in children's education. Just as responsibility accompanies all matters in the world, when parents have children, parental responsibility toward them naturally follows.
However, the number of parents unable to bear this responsibility is increasing. Children's education naturally requires know-how.
When one becomes a parent, one must naturally study how to educate children and prepare to teach them properly.
When parents only give birth to children without taking responsibility and are not prepared to teach them correctly, the family collapses.
The sixth cause of family breakdown is that as society becomes commercialized and urbanized, and human nature withers, families crumble.
Abundant humanity—the human qualities essential for people to live as human beings—enriches our lives with warmth and mutual care. We enjoy life's comfort in the generous humanity where people cherish and care for one another.
When human nature withers, people hurt and are hurt by each other, suffering unhappiness together. Just as living creatures cannot survive in a barren desert, people cannot live in a place where human compassion has dried up.
Similarly, families cannot be properly maintained in a place where humanity has withered. Among the causes leading to family collapse, the seventh cause has statistics showing that many families are breaking down as more mothers engage in workplace work.
Women's participation in society and work is important. However, that importance comes with a price to be paid.
Women's social and workplace activities should occur within the scope of maintaining the family. Of course, there are unavoidable circumstances.
However, mothers who faithfully maintain the home until their children have grown to a certain degree are important.
The eighth cause of family breakdown is that distorted human rights activism, misguided feminism, and excessive liberalism destroy families.
To enjoy freedom—whether as individuals, families, men, women, or nations—a price must be paid. One must fulfill one's duties and consider others before claiming one's rights and enjoying one's freedom.
When people insist only on self-centered freedom, disregard overall community safety, or assert only their own rights without consideration for others, families fall apart.
I will now address the final, ninth cause. The last cause of family breakdown is that unrestrained living involving alcohol, drugs, gambling, and similar vices destroys families.
Furthermore, such problems do not only destroy the head of household but also damage the souls and minds of family members, especially children.
Too many heads of household forget their responsibility to care for their families, become addicted to alcohol, succumb to drugs, and become consumed by gambling, destroying their homes.
First and foremost, the family must become healthy.
A happy family is one with a head of household who takes responsibility for his family, a wife who creates a warm and harmonious family atmosphere, and children whose studies, physical health, and emotions develop in balance.
In such homes, alcohol, drugs, or gambling cannot take root.
Let us all work together to build happy families and establish a healthy society.
