Gyeonggi Province Submits Final Draft of 'Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development' to Ministry of Interior and Safety
[Suwon Ilbo=Park No-hun] Gyeonggi Province has finalized the 'Final Draft for Changes to the Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development' comprising 53 projects worth 3.5496 trillion won and submitted it to the Ministry of Interior and Safety on the 4th.
The submission of the revised Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development is in preparation for the Ministry of Interior and Safety's scheduled revision of the 'Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development' set for October. The Province previously held a public hearing on July 25 and finalized the revised draft through a process of gathering opinions from mayors and county governors.
The Province excluded 7 projects worth 167.6 billion won that cannot be implemented by 2030 in seven municipalities and counties in border areas, and newly reflected 18 projects worth 728.3 billion won that local governments and residents desire. Additionally, it included 5 new agenda items worth 86.1 billion won that were brought up during the public hearing in preparing the revision plan.
The Ministry of Interior and Safety's Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development was established in 2011 to improve residents' welfare and create new growth engines through sustainable development of 15 underdeveloped municipalities and counties in border areas of Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, and Gangwon Province.
As a statutory plan established with 225 projects worth 13.2 trillion won from 2011 to 2030, Gyeonggi Province is allocated 37 projects worth approximately 3.4 trillion won.
Over the past 12 years, Gyeonggi Province has executed 24 projects worth approximately 1.7 trillion won.
If all of Gyeonggi Province's revision plan is reflected, the 37 projects worth the original 3.487 trillion won will increase by 62.6 billion won to become 53 projects worth 3.5496 trillion won.
