Uiwang Autonomous Crime Prevention Alliance Celebrates 14th Anniversary

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Chung-young] The Uiwang Autonomous Crime Prevention Alliance (Chair Lee Kyung-ja) held its 14th anniversary commemoration ceremony on the 11th at the Uiwang City Hall conference room.

The ceremony was attended by Uiwang Mayor Kim Sung-je, Uiwang City Council Chair Kim Hak-gi, National Assemblymember Lee So-young, Uiwang Police Chief Hong Myung-gon, and other local dignitaries and alliance members.

The ceremony began with performances of fan dance and Gyeonggi folk songs, followed by a variety of programs.

The Uiwang Autonomous Crime Prevention Alliance has played a watchdog role in crime-vulnerable areas by regularly patrolling Gocheon sections A and B, as well as the redevelopment areas of Naeson and Bugok-dong to ensure citizen safety. The alliance has also taken the lead in preventing juvenile crime by patrolling Wanggok Elementary School, which opens on weekends.

In particular, the Autonomous Crime Prevention Alliance Installation and Operation Act was enacted in April, and the organization was recognized as a socially necessary group at the national level, transcending local government boundaries.

Uiwang Autonomous Crime Prevention Alliance Chair Lee Kyung-ja said, "As random violent crimes have become a serious problem in recent times, we conducted joint inspections of multi-use facilities with citizens, government, and police twice this year to take the lead in preventing crime damage," adding, "We will continue to make greater efforts for citizen safety and community development."

Uiwang Mayor Kim Sung-je said, "I sincerely thank the alliance members for their tireless efforts to maintain community safety by regularly patrolling vulnerable areas within the city to prevent crime and guiding wayward youth."
