Uiwang Mayor Kim Sung-je Meets with Transport Minister Won Hee-ryong to Address Key Issues

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Chung-young] Uiwang Mayor Kim Sung-je visited the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in Sejong City on the 20th and met with Minister Won Hee-ryong to propose pending issues regarding the Baekun Valley urban development project and the Gocheon restoration project.

The pending issues proposed by Mayor Kim are: △confirmation of public contribution for the Baekun Valley urban development project △changes to the national rental housing site (A1 Block) in Baekun Valley △modifications to the Gocheon restoration project plan, totaling three matters.

At the meeting, Mayor Kim stated, "To promptly advance infrastructure including the Cheonggyeong IC, Ojeon-Cheonggyeong Road, and establishment of an elementary and middle school at Baekun Lake, and to resolve residents' long-cherished desires such as attracting a general hospital, confirmation of the public contribution items and amount for the Baekun Valley urban development project is necessary."

He also emphasized that changes such as converting sales-type housing sites are needed to stabilize housing for low-income households without homes and to resolve long-term unsold lots in the Baekun Valley urban development project, and that reduction of project sites or changes to the project operator are necessary to reduce Uiwang City's excessive budget burden on the Gocheon restoration project.

Mayor Kim Sung-je stated, "To resolve citizen inconvenience and promote Uiwang City's urban development, prompt resolution of major pending issues through the Central Urban Planning Review Committee is necessary," and "I request active interest and support from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport."

In response, Minister Won Hee-ryong said, "I will thoroughly review Uiwang City's major pending issues through relevant departments and actively support them."
