Osan Secures 1.5 Billion Won in Special Allocation Tax from Interior Ministry for Second Half
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Lee Su-won] Osan City announced on the 6th that it has secured 1.5 billion won in special allocation tax from the Ministry of Interior and Safety across five projects for the second half of the year.
With this, the city has now secured a total of 2.4 billion won in special allocation tax from the Ministry of Interior and Safety for the entire year.
The special allocation tax secured this time will be used for a total of five projects: △installation of automatic vehicle blocking facilities at Osan Stream entrance (450 million won) △replacement of disaster information display boards near Osan Sports Complex (400 million won) △installation of automatic vehicle blocking facilities on Tapdong Bridge subbase road (50 million won) △facility improvement works for Osaegsijang and Gualdong public parking lots (400 million won) △maintenance of substitute gymnasium facilities at Osan Osaeq Culture and Sports Center (200 million won).
Notably, the budget that stands out in this round of securing special allocation tax from the Ministry of Interior and Safety is funds to be used for protecting citizen safety in disaster situations.
Mayor Lee Kwon-jae has focused on citizen safety since the launch of his second elected term. As a result of efforts with public officials in July, the city had already secured allocation tax from the Ministry of Interior and Safety for △installation of an overpass canopy in front of Sammi Elementary School (200 million won) △installation of intelligent daily life crime prevention CCTV (500 million won) △installation of protective fencing in child protection zones (125 million won).
Additionally, through the project budget secured this time, the city plans to replace the aged disaster information display boards near Osan Sports Complex, which were installed in 2014, to ensure visibility.
Furthermore, the city will install automatic vehicle blocking facilities and control systems at the Osan Stream entrance to ensure the safety of pedestrians, and will establish remote vehicle passage blocking facilities on the left bank subbase road of Tapdong Bridge in the vicinity of 719 Galgot-dong to prevent vehicle entry during heavy rain and prevent safety accidents in advance.
At the same time, budget for projects to revitalize traditional markets and guarantee residents' cultural and sports conditions has also been reflected.
In the case of Osaeq Market and Gualdong public parking lots, there had been risks of various accidents due to corrosion of steel frames within the parking lots, but through this budget securing, repairs and painting work can now protect citizens from such accident risks.
Large screens will be installed in the substitute gymnasium of Osan Osaeq Culture and Sports Center to increase the concentration of audiences during cultural and sports events, and prevent budget waste from one-time screen installations for events.
In addition, the city also secured budgets exceeding 100 million won in total from △incentives for local governments that excel in rapid implementation of local finances △incentives for local governments that excel in public data operations and data-driven administration △incentives for local governments that excel in local price stability management.
