[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-seong] Samsung Electronics employees donated 600 million won raised through 'sharing kiosks' and a walking volunteer campaign (Walk on, give on) to the Suwon Human Service Center, Good Neighbors, and the Suwon Social Welfare Council.

Samsung Electronics Vice President Kim Young-ho presented the donations to Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun at a 'Samsung Electronics Suwon Social Contribution Center Employee Donation and Volunteer Fundraising Presentation Ceremony' held at Suwon City Hall on the 22nd. The ceremony was attended by Samsung Electronics employees, Good Neighbors Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters Director Moon Sang-rok, Suwon Social Welfare Council Chairman Jang Myeong-chan, and others.

Samsung Electronics employees raised 400 million won through sharing kiosks and 200 million won through the walking volunteer campaign.

The 400 million won raised through sharing kiosks will be used to support 58 vulnerable children in Suwon, and the 200 million won from the walking volunteer campaign will support kiosk training for social welfare facilities.

The 'Samsung Electronics Employee Sharing Kiosk,' which began operating in 2016, is a program that introduces stories of children with rare diseases on kiosk screens, and employees touch their employee ID cards to the device after viewing the stories to donate medical expenses. It enables easy donations, and employee participation rates are high as the kiosk notifies about cases of improved health and treatment of children receiving medical expense support. In 2022, 9,047 employees participated and donated 220 million won.

The walking volunteer campaign 'Walk on, give on,' which started in 2020, involves employees donating a set amount when they achieve their target number of steps. In 2022, 23,495 people participated and donated 500 million won.

Samsung Electronics Vice President Kim Young-ho said, "Samsung Electronics will continue to support and encourage neighbors in need in the local community together with our employees."

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "I appreciate Samsung Electronics employees for taking the lead in corporate social contribution and consistently practicing sharing for vulnerable groups in Suwon," and added, "I hope the spirit of sharing among Samsung Electronics employees spreads throughout our society."
