Uiwang City Completes Expansion Project of Wangsong Public Sewage Treatment Facility

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Chung-young] Uiwang City announced on the 26th that it has successfully completed the expansion project of the Wangsong Public Sewage Treatment Facility, which has been undertaken since 2017 for environmental protection and improvement of residents' quality of life.

To address the increasing wastewater treatment demand from the development of Chopyeong and Wolam districts, the city invested 23.969 billion won (100% from LH's causative expense) and entered the expansion project planning stage in 2017, began construction at the end of December 2020, and completed the project on February 3rd last month.

With the expansion of the Wangsong Public Sewage Treatment Facility, the daily wastewater treatment capacity will increase from the existing 15,000㎥ to 20,000㎥, creating stable infrastructure that alleviates environmental burdens from population growth and development projects in the region, the city added.

Uiwang City Mayor Kim Seong-je stated, "Going forward, through continuous management and operation of sewage infrastructure expansion, we will promote balanced regional development and take the lead in stable water quality conservation and environmental protection."
