First Osan City Children's Folk Song Festival Recruits Participants

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Lee Su-won] Osan City announced on the 14th that it will recruit participants for the 'First Osan City Children's Folk Song Festival' from the 25th through April 12.

The festival, being held for the first time this year under the direction of the Osan Boys and Girls Chorus, aims to promote folk songs that are disappearing among children, the leaders of the future, and to cultivate proper emotions through beautiful lyrics. The event will be held on May 11 at the outdoor stage of Osan Segyo Dolmen Park.

Applications are open at no charge to elementary school students and younger children (born 2018 or later) within the city who enjoy folk songs, and applicants may compete as soloists or in duets.

The competition categories are △solo performance (preschool children and elementary school grades 1-3 born in 2018 or later) △solo performance (elementary school grades 4-6) △duet performance (teams composed of children ages 7 and older through elementary school students), for a total of three categories.

Children interested in participating should refer to the Osan Arts Council website (www.osanart.kr) notices, and submit application forms and videos via email (osancello@naver.com).

Following rigorous expert review in the preliminary round, finalists for the main competition will be selected on April 15. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the winners in each category at the main event. Additionally, one team from all participants will receive the Grand Prize (Osan Mayor's Award) and will have the opportunity to perform as a special guest at the Osan Boys and Girls Chorus regular concert.
