Yongin City Selected as Outstanding Institution in Ministry of Interior and Safety's 'Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] Yongin Special City has been selected as an outstanding institution in the Ministry of Interior and Safety's '2024 Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation,' the city announced on the 15th.

The Ministry of Interior and Safety conducts annual evaluations of 243 local government entities based on five categories and 18 indicators, including implementation results of active administration, and commends outstanding institutions.

The city was selected as an outstanding institution in this evaluation for its recognized efforts to improve citizens' quality of life, including rapid processing of permits and licenses and elimination of overlapping regulations.

The city's efforts to shorten the average building permit processing period by 18 days were highly evaluated. The city actively operated a building permit processing improvement task force since April of last year in response to the mayor's directive to reduce citizens' inconvenience by efficiently processing building permits.

The city's efforts were also recognized for resolving difficulties faced by residents of Pogok-eup and Mohyeon-eup in Cheoin-gu, who have suffered from overlapping regulations in military facility protection zones and waterside areas. The city has been promoting the elimination of overlapping waterside regulations for approximately 1.18 million pyeong along the Gyeongan Stream, while also providing 'Daily Life Administrative Talk' services to promptly address inconveniences in daily life.

To foster a civil service culture that strives to improve citizens' quality of life, the city has provided incentives such as top-grade performance bonuses, shortened service promotion periods, and compensatory leave to outstanding civil servants who practiced active administration since the second half of last year.

Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il said, "We have achieved good results as a result of our efforts to expand the culture of active administration so that citizens can feel that the level of administrative services has improved," and added, "This year, we will also continue to make efforts to create a better Yongin Special City by operating a regulatory innovation task force to improve unreasonable regulations that affect citizens' lives."
