Pedestrian Overpass Bridge to Be Installed at Giheung Reservoir in Yongin...Completion Scheduled for 2026

[Suwon Ilbo=Choi Ki-ho] Yongin Special City announced on the 26th that it will begin construction of a pedestrian overpass bridge at Giheung Reservoir next year with completion scheduled for 2026.

The Giheung Reservoir pedestrian overpass bridge will span from the Rowing and Canoeing Venue on the east side of Giheung Reservoir to the direction of Kyung Hee University on the west side, measuring 590 meters in length and 2 meters in width.

The city plans to conduct a design competition to ensure the overpass becomes a safe and distinctive landmark.

The city anticipates that once the pedestrian bridge is installed, residents who previously had to make a detour through Hagal Intersection will be able to use the circular walking trail more conveniently.

The city began the urban planning facility (road) decision project for the installation of Giheung Reservoir on the 21st and plans to manage it stably and efficiently as a legal pedestrian pathway.

Meanwhile, a bridge connecting Giheung Respire within the circular walking trail and the parking lot on the west side of the reservoir will also be completed this year, measuring 153 meters in length and 3 meters in width.

A city official stated, "Installing a pedestrian overpass bridge at Giheung Reservoir is expected to provide a distinctive and safe walking environment," and added, "We will do our best to make the overpass bridge become a new landmark."
