Suwon City Hosts 'New Dreams! Shining Children! Children's Playtime Festival' for Children's Day
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-sung] Suwon Special City held 'New Dreams! Shining Children! Children's Playtime Festival' at the Suwon Sports Complex within the Suwon Olympic Stadium on the 3rd to celebrate Children's Day.
The event ran from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Suwon Sports Complex and the parking lot of the Suwon Olympic Stadium, featuring indoor playgrounds, experience booths, photo zones, and magic and bubble performances for children to enjoy.
In particular, various organizations including Suwon City Daycare Center groups, the Comprehensive Childcare Support Center, the Suwon City Volunteer Center, the Korea Child Abuse Prevention Association, child protection specialist agencies, the Suwon Local Children's Center Federation, the Suwon City Together Care Center Council, and the Suwon City Disability Welfare Complex operated booths offering diverse experiences that attracted children.
Mayor Lee Jae-joon, who attended the event along with Kim Ki-jung, chairman of the Suwon City Council, councilor Kim Young-jin (Suwon City), and elected congressman Kim Jun-hyuk (Suwon City), performed a watering ceremony with the children at the 'magic tree'—where flowers bloom when water is poured on it—expressing their hope for Suwon's children's dreams to grow even larger. Children and citizens threw colorful confetti toward the blooming flowers. Mayor Lee also rode a manual train with the children.
Mayor Lee Jae-joon stated, "The role of adults is to create a society where children grow up laughing and being children," adding, "We will create a city that safely protects children by their side so they can grow up well physically, emotionally, and mentally."
