Suwon Urban Development Corporation to Host 'Funeral Service Innovation Forum' on 23rd...First in Korea
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-sung] Suwon Yeong-hwa Cemetery, operated by Suwon Urban Development Corporation (President Heo Jung-moon), announced on the 16th that it will co-host with the Metropolitan Area Funeral Service Facilities Council to hold Korea's first 'Funeral Service Innovation Forum' related to funeral culture.
The Funeral Service Innovation Forum will be held on the 23rd at 1 p.m. at Hanuuri Art Hall, Jangan-gu Citizens' Hall under the theme of "Innovative Leadership in Funeral Culture—'Now is the Time for Change.'"
The forum will be jointly hosted by the Metropolitan Area Cremation Facilities Council, composed of public funeral service institutions in five locations: Suwon, Seoul, Incheon, Yongin, and Hwaseong. Suwon Yeong-hwa Cemetery, which serves as the council chair, will oversee the organization.
The sessions will proceed in the following order: △countermeasures for recent cremation delays, △new directions for funeral culture innovation at public funeral service facilities and future directions, △directions and future regarding facility development following the systematization and implementation of ash burial systems, and △Q&A.
The moderator will be Kwon Hyuk-sung, Dean of the Graduate School of Public Policy at Ajou University. Panelists include △Lee Chang-won, Chairman of the Metropolitan Area Cremation Facilities Council (Director of Suwon Yeong-hwa Cemetery), △Park Moon-su, Director of the Elderly Support Division at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and △Choi Jae-sil, former professor of the Funeral Directing Department at Eulji University.
The forum is open to anyone interested in funeral culture, including funeral service professionals and citizens.
Lee Chang-won, Director of Suwon Yeong-hwa Cemetery, stated, "Through the forum, we expect to present directions for leading new funeral culture through sustainable funeral service facility and infrastructure development and strengthening national responsibility, thereby improving the quality of funeral services."
