Suwon City Conducts Emergency Safety Inspections at All Battery Factories in City

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-seong] In response to the battery factory fire accident in Hwaseong City, Suwon Special City has launched emergency inspections of safety management conditions at primary battery, storage battery, and secondary battery manufacturers within the city.

The city visited 6 rechargeable battery manufacturers registered as factories within the city from the 25th to the 26th and conducted safety inspections. Additionally, together with the Suwon Fire Department, it inspected 3 companies subject to fire department supervision.

Using a 'battery manufacturing facility fire management card,' the inspections thoroughly checked production items, processes, hazardous areas, hazardous materials, and fire suppression methods. The team also verified the maintenance status of fire-fighting facilities, evacuation and fire prevention facilities, and the presence of Class D metal fire extinguishers.

The inspection found no particular issues. The city provided training to company employees on fire suppression methods in case of fire outbreak and how to secure emergency evacuation routes, and requested adherence to safety regulations.

The city plans to visit all battery manufacturers within Suwon on the 28th jointly with the Suwon Fire Department to conduct safety inspections.

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "So that such unfortunate accidents do not occur again, we ask that all manufacturing sites prioritize worker safety above all else and do their utmost in accident prevention," and added, "We will continue to conduct safety inspections to prevent safety accidents."
