KMI Donates 30 Million Won to Suwon Mayor's Scholarship Foundation
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] KMI (Korean Medical Research Institute) donated 30 million won to the Suwon Mayor's Scholarship Foundation, saying "Please use this for fostering local talent."
Honorary Chairman Kim Soon-yi of KMI visited Suwon City Hall on the 12th and presented the donation to Mayor Lee Jae-jun. Park Chun-keun, Chairman of the Suwon Mayor's Scholarship Foundation, also attended the ceremony. KMI previously donated 30 million won to the Suwon Mayor's Scholarship Foundation in July of last year.
Honorary Chairman Kim Soon-yi stated, "I hope this donation will help students facing economic difficulties realize their dreams," and added, "KMI will continue to support students pursuing their dreams so they can fully concentrate on their goals."
Park Chun-keun, Chairman of the Suwon Mayor's Scholarship Foundation, said, "We sincerely thank KMI for donating scholarships to the foundation for the future leaders, our youth," and announced, "The donation will be used to foster local talent and support students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds."
Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "We appreciate KMI's continued donations," and stated, "We will use this precious donation meaningfully to nurture talent that will brighten Suwon's future."
KMI, a health screening institution established in 1985, operates health screening centers at eight locations nationwide, including Suwon City (Gwonseon-dong). Since 2004, it has been consistently engaged in sharing activities including health screenings for welfare facilities and providing briquettes to underprivileged groups. In January 2019, it established the Social Contribution Business Division to actively undertake social contribution projects.
The Suwon Mayor's Scholarship Foundation, a municipal organization established in 2006, carries out scholarship support projects to discover and nurture excellent local talent. To date, it has provided scholarships totaling 10.688 billion won to 12,835 students from elementary, middle, high schools, and universities.
