Namyangju City Holds Second Series of 'Our Neighborhood Boss Lecture'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Namyangju City successfully concluded the second series of the 'Our Neighborhood Boss Lecture' at the Youth Startup Center on the 2nd.

The lecture, themed 'Talk Concert with Local Senior Entrepreneurs,' was launched to provide young startups struggling amid the prolonged economic downturn with practical experience and know-how.

The event was attended by over 100 young entrepreneurs including Namyangju Mayor Ju Gwang-deok, and proceeded with lectures and a question-and-answer session.

Guest lecturer CEO Um Ha-young worked through five different careers including environmental researcher, engineer, and merchandise director before starting a café in Wabu-eup eight years ago. She has since expanded her business to operate a specialty cookie gift shop, achieving monthly sales of 50 million won.

Drawing on her extensive experience and background, CEO Um shared her entrepreneurial journey in the highly competitive food service industry as an independent business owner, from starting a neighborhood café to supplying products to major corporations.

Meanwhile, the city plans to hold the third series of 'Our Neighborhood Boss Lecture' later this year by inviting CEO Um Sun-young, who is currently active as a female CEO of an eco-friendly enterprise.

Mayor Ju Gwang-deok expressed his gratitude, saying “I appreciate CEO Um Ha-young for giving this lecture for young entrepreneurs, and I gained great learning and inspiration from her success story and know-how.” He added, “I hope that through today's lecture, young people will gain the courage to challenge themselves without fear of failure.”
