Suwon Operates Promotional Pavilion at '2024 Dubai ITS World Congress'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Special City participated in the '2024 Dubai ITS World Congress' held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates starting on the 16th and promoted the '2025 Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Congress.'

ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) is a system that enhances safety and convenience by applying cutting-edge information and communication technology to transportation means and facilities. Bus information systems and traffic information systems are representative examples of ITS.

The city delegation headed by First Vice Mayor Kim Hyun-su operated a Suwon promotional pavilion within the Korea Pavilion to publicize the '2025 Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Congress.' It provided comprehensive information on the preparations for the Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Congress, and guided participants on exhibition booth participation and paper submissions. It also introduced Suwon's ITS status, culture, and tourism to attract attendees.

The delegation also held talks with delegations from seven countries including India, New Zealand, and the United States, urging them to "cooperate and work together for the successful hosting of the Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Congress."

The delegation attended official events including opening and closing ceremonies and technical site inspections, carefully examining the congress operations while laying the groundwork for the Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Congress.

The congress, held until the 20th under the theme 'Mobility Driven by ITS,' attracted more than 20,000 participants from 100 countries. The ITS World Congress is the world's largest exhibition and academic conference in the ITS field. Ten public institutions and 19 companies from Korea participated to showcase Korea's cutting-edge ITS technology.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Congress, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Suwon City, will be held from May 28 to 30 next year at the Suwon Convention Center and throughout Suwon under the theme 'Hyper-Connected Cities by ITS.' The congress will feature high-level meetings with ministers and vice-ministers, academic sessions, exhibitions and business consultation meetings, technology demonstrations and site inspections, and citizen participation programs.

First Vice Mayor Kim Hyun-su said, "Through my participation in the Dubai ITS World Congress, I experienced that demonstrating the distinctive character of the city is the key to success," and "Over the eight months remaining until the 2025 Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Congress, we will work through the organizing committee to prepare the event with substance and concentrate Suwon's administrative capacity so that Suwon's city brand becomes imprinted in the Asia-Pacific region."
