Suwon Urban Development Corporation to Launch Shuttle Service at Suwon Yeonhwa Hall Starting October

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-seong] Suwon Yeonhwa Hall, operated by Suwon Urban Development Corporation (President Heo Jung-moon), announced on the 25th that it will begin shuttle service starting October 1st.

The service route will run from Gwanggyo Bus Depot, the nearby city and intercity bus terminal, to the entrance of Yeonhwa Hall.

Operating hours will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., coinciding with the memorial hall's operating hours, with shuttles departing every 20 minutes.

Until the end of February 2025, the pilot period will see operations only on Saturdays and Sundays for demand analysis. Full daily operations are planned to begin in March.

Although Suwon Yeonhwa Hall is adjacent to Gwanggyo New City, only one city bus line operates there at two-hour intervals, and the nearest bus stop is over 700 meters away from the facility.

As a result, elderly people and other vulnerable transportation users who visit using public transit have been experiencing difficulties, having to walk over 700 meters on a steep slope for more than 20 minutes.

As of last year, the average monthly visitor count reached 95,000 people. The Yeonhwa Hall Business Division estimates that vulnerable transportation users among them number close to 100 people.

President Heo Jung-moon stated, “We have decided to pursue the shuttle service to improve the disadvantageous public transportation accessibility and provide transportation convenience for vulnerable users,” adding, “We will spare no effort in providing and leading advanced funeral culture and services.”
