Uiwang Opens Baekun Valley Connecting Green Space Reddish Soil Walking Path
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Chung-young] Uiwang City held the opening ceremony for the Baekun Valley Connecting Green Space Reddish Soil Walking Path on the 7th.
The ceremony was attended by approximately 150 people including Mayor Kim Sung-je of Uiwang City, Kim Hak-gi, chairman of the Uiwang City Council, city council members, members of civic organizations, and residents.
The 'Baekun Valley Connecting Green Space Reddish Soil Walking Path' project, which redesigned the green space located behind Baekun Lake Church in Uiwang as a circulating reddish soil path, has been a resident-participation-type project that garnered strong interest from Baekun District residents from the beginning and incorporated their opinions into the planning of circulation routes and major facilities.
The Baekun Valley Connecting Green Space Reddish Soil Walking Path attracts attention for its breathtaking natural scenery that is difficult to experience on typical reddish soil paths. The space offers fresh air and beautiful views, and with wildlife and plants harmoniously coexisting, it serves as a place where visitors can experience the wonders of nature, attracting considerable public interest.
Designed with a circulating structure that breaks away from simple linear walking paths, the site features a barefoot walking path of 270m of reddish soil path, 105m of volcanic sand path, 25m of acupressure path, for a total of 400m, and experience spaces themed with reddish soil foot baths and reddish soil bocce courts at various points, allowing visitors to gain both health benefits and entertainment.
In particular, quality trees from external construction sites were transplanted around the barefoot walking path to provide shade while allowing visitors to experience diverse seasonal color changes year-round.
Mayor Kim Sung-je of Uiwang City stated, "I hope that the Baekun Valley Connecting Green Space Reddish Soil Walking Path, created with the goals of harmony with the natural environment and sustainable maintenance of natural space, will become a precious space providing residents with leisure and healing in their daily lives."
