Joo Kwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, Elected Chair of Gyeonggi Province Mayors and Governors Association

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Um In-yong] Joo Kwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, has been elected as chair of the second half of the 8th civilian-elected Gyeonggi Province Mayors and Governors Association (hereinafter 'Association').

The Association held its third extraordinary meeting of the 8th civilian-elected term at the Danwon Hall of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government on the 11th and elected Joo Kwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, as chair of the second half. The term will last until June 2026.

Meanwhile, the Association is an administrative council established in 1996 to promote mutual exchange and cooperation among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province and to pursue efficient administrative operations.

Mayor Joo stated, "I feel a weighty sense of responsibility being elected chair at this important time in the second half of the 8th civilian-elected term, and I will work to resolve pending issues in each city and county through swift, active, and sincere communication with the 31 mayors and county heads," and added, "I will make utmost efforts so that the voice of Gyeonggi Province is reflected and substantive local decentralization can be achieved."
