Gapyeong-gun Signs Mutual Cooperation Agreement for Successful 2025-2026 Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Games

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Gapyeong-gun signed a mutual cooperation agreement with local lodging and dining industry associations on the 13th in a small conference room at the county office for the successful hosting of the '2025-2026 Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Games.'

The agreement comes as the 'the 15th Gyeonggi Province Disabled Sports Games' and the '71st Gyeonggi Province Sports Games' are scheduled to be held in April-May of next year, with the aim of strengthening cooperation to ensure smooth reservation support for athletes and eliminate overcharging.

In today's agreement, Gapyeong-gun Small Business Association, Korea Lodging Industry Association Gapyeong-gun Branch, Korea Rural Accommodation Association Gapyeong-gun Branch, Gapyeong-gun Camping Association, and Korea Food Service Industry Association Northern Gyeonggi Branch Gapyeong-gun Branch pledged to actively promote △preventing reservation refusals and unfair charges, and △providing hygienic and courteous service.

During the sports games, the county will give top priority to advance reservations for athlete groups, and for lodging facilities, will implement reasonable pricing policies such as prohibiting requests for additional fees on consecutive nights or checkout requests for room turnover for athlete groups.

Meanwhile, the county recruited participating businesses to take the lead in welcoming guests with appropriate prices and courteous service in two rounds in January and August.

In addition, the county plans to disclose lodging fees and food prices of businesses on the games' website during the event period, and provide incentives such as subsidized garbage bags and accessible ramp rentals to participating businesses that cooperate with athlete reservations. The county will also inspect whether price lists are posted and check for excessive charges during the games period, and will take corrective measures if violations are found.

Shin Yun-sung, head of the event planning team of the Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Games organizing committee, said, "Through this agreement, we will strengthen mutual cooperation with lodging and dining businesses so that athlete groups and tourists can develop an image of 'Gapyeong worth revisiting.'"
