Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun Operates 'Saebit On-Site Mayor's Office' at Pajang Elementary School and Mangpo-dong Food Street

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun operated his 'Saebit On-Site Mayor's Office' at Pajang Elementary School in Jangan-gu and the Mangpo-dong food street on the 2nd.

The mayor's visit to Pajang Elementary School was in response to residents of Buksuwon Zaire Nextbia Apartment requesting 'school zone adjustment' at the Jangan-gu regional Saebit Meeting held in August.

The mayor walked directly along the school route from the entrance of Buksuwon Zaire Nextbia to the back gate of Pajang Elementary School to check safety, then met with residents in front of the school to listen to their concerns.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "Redevelopment and reconstruction are occurring across Suwon, and citizen complaints about school district adjustments continue to arise," and added, "It is necessary to carefully organize and review all citizen complaints."

A citizen who requested the school zone adjustment said, "To commute from Buksuwon Zaire Nextbia Apartment to Pajang Elementary School's front gate, we must pass through Buksuwon Market, and since there is no separate pedestrian walkway and vehicles frequently pass on the narrow road, it is dangerous," and asked, "Please establish a safe commuting method."

Subsequently, the mayor met with Shim Woo-hyun, chairman of the Buksuwon Merchants Association, and requested, "Please consider restricting vehicle traffic during school hours for safety." Chairman Shim responded, "After discussing with merchants, we will actively review it."

After completing his visit to Pajang Elementary School, the mayor visited the Mangpo-dong food street area where a resident of Mangpo 1-dong requested 'public parking lot development' at the Yeongdeungpo-gu regional Saebit Meeting held in August.

A requesting citizen said, "There is no parking lot in the Mangpo-dong food street area, so the parking shortage is severe," and added, "I hope a park could be developed as a parking lot."

Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "If we remove the park and create a parking lot, residents will lose a place for rest, so many residents will likely oppose it," and said, "We can review parking lot development if we gather residents' opinions and reach agreement, but it is difficult to convert a park into a parking lot without consultation with residents."
