[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] Ganghwa County announced on the 2nd that it has broken ground on an 'Integrated CCTV Control Center' that will serve as a safety guardian for county residents and has begun full-scale construction.
The Integrated CCTV Control Center will be constructed on a 707㎡ site in the Gangwhaeup Gwancheong-ri area, lot 170-10, with a total project investment of 11.7 billion won. The facility will be a five-story structure with a total floor area of 1,731.05㎡ (approximately 523 pyeong), targeting completion by the end of December this year.
The control center will feature a CCTV control room, equipment room, operational facilities, lounge, and disaster safety operations center. An observation room will also be installed to allow visitors to view the control room.
Prior to the groundbreaking, the county completed detailed design work at the end of October, and through a bidding process confirmed the construction contractor and construction management team by the end of November and early December.
The Ganghwa County Integrated CCTV Control Center, which opened in 2016, currently operates 2,168 CCTV cameras 24 hours a day without interruption as of the end of December 2024, monitoring resident safety.
As of the end of November 2024, the Ganghwa County control center provided video footage on 1,805 cases to police stations and fire departments for resolving various incidents and accidents. The control room operators' real-time monitoring and response resulted in 68 reports of fires and traffic accidents, demonstrating their effective role as guardians of resident safety.
Ganghwa County Governor Park Yong-chul stated, "Since the Integrated CCTV Control Center plays a very important role in public safety regarding various incidents, accidents, crime prevention, and disasters, we will do our best to ensure completion without delay through sound construction practices and thorough project management."
