Guri City Secures 3.86 Billion Won in Gyeonggi Province Special Adjustment Grants
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Guri City announced on the 3rd that it has secured 3.86 billion won in special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province.
Target projects include ▲construction of a viewing deck walking path within the Wangsuk Stream embankment (500 million won) ▲pedestrian pathway improvement project for transportation-disadvantaged groups (700 million won) ▲heating and cooling environmental improvement at Guri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center (260 million won) ▲installation of planetarium at Inchang Library Observatory (500 million won) ▲artificial turf soccer field construction at Citizen Sports Park (1.2 billion won) ▲environmental improvement project for Wangsuk Stream Disabled Persons Park Golf Course (150 million won) ▲artificial turf replacement project at Guri Plaza (200 million won) ▲installation of LED disaster information display board under Topyeong Bridge (350 million won), totaling 8 projects.
In particular, the artificial turf soccer field construction project at Citizen Sports Park achieved the accomplishment of securing a total of 3.26 billion won in external funding, including the already-secured 1.26 billion won in provincial funding and 800 million won in special allocation tax out of the total 4.2 billion won project budget.
Furthermore, through this grant, the city plans to smoothly promote the LED disaster information display board installation project in connection with the deck installation in the Wangsuk Stream embankment area in Suteok-dong 306-5 and the lighting gallery project under Topyeong Bridge, enabling citizens to comfortably and safely use Wangsuk Stream while enjoying rest and leisure.
Additionally, a planetarium will be installed at the Inchang Library Observatory, which will officially open on the 13th, allowing observations on daytime and rainy days, while the artificial turf at Guri Plaza near Guri Station on Line 8 of the subway will be replaced, which is expected to significantly contribute to citizens' cultural experiences and health promotion.
Beyond this, the city plans to lay the groundwork for further protection of the socially vulnerable through budget securing for various projects including replacement of aging heating and cooling systems in the social welfare center, installation of portable restrooms in the park golf course along Wangsuk Stream, and replacement of aging fences at 10 locations including areas around Topyeong Elementary School and installation of smart crosswalk systems.
Guri City Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun said, “I am pleased to have secured special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province in a situation where the city's finances are constrained due to uncertainties in domestic and external economic conditions,” and added, “I will ensure that projects are promptly advanced to secure citizen safety and improve quality of life.”
