Anseong City and Habitat for Humanity Korea Sign Public-Private Partnership Urban Regeneration Agreement

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyeok] Anseong City signed a memorandum of understanding with Habitat for Humanity Korea (Chairman Yoon Hyung-ju) on the 6th to improve residential environments through a sustainable public-private partnership model for the Seongnam and Okcheon districts urban regeneration project.

The agreement aims to supplement residential environment improvement and sustainable regeneration tailored to the characteristics of the Seongnam and Okcheon districts, which are densely populated with aging residential buildings within the city. The city plans to promote various regeneration projects through cooperation with Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international nonprofit housing welfare organization.

First, the city plans to secure housing spaces for socially and economically disadvantaged groups by utilizing aging buildings in the relevant areas, and to expand collaborative projects in various fields, including old house repair projects and vacant house cleanup efforts.

Meanwhile, the city has been implementing a five-year urban regeneration project for the Seongnam and Okcheon districts since last year. This year, it plans to maximize project effectiveness by promoting projects including the creation of a residents' plaza (parking lot), crime prevention environmental design projects (selected through open competition), and Gyeonggi Province old house repair projects.

Mayor Kim Bo-ra stated, "With this agreement as an opportunity, I have deep gratitude and special expectations that we can bloom the urban regeneration project, an essential field for urban development and mutual prosperity, together with Habitat for Humanity Korea," and added, "I will do my best to expand various projects linked with urban regeneration efforts."
