Uiwang City Regional Autonomous Disaster Prevention Unit Holds 2025 Regular General Meeting

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] The Uiwang City Regional Autonomous Disaster Prevention Unit (Director Kim Sang-bok) held its '2025 Regular General Meeting' on the 7th at the Uiwang City Hall Grand Conference Room, with the attendance of Mayor Kim Sung-je of Uiwang City, Chairman Kim Hak-gi of the Uiwang City Council, and approximately 120 members of the autonomous disaster prevention unit.

The general meeting was conducted in two parts. In the first part, discussions were held on the 2024 business settlement and audit report as well as the 2025 business plan and budget proposal. In the second part, a report on the 2024 activities of the autonomous disaster prevention unit was presented, and commendation certificates were awarded to members who made contributions through disaster prevention and recovery activities, safety campaign activities, and other initiatives.

The Uiwang City Regional Autonomous Disaster Prevention Unit is a social organization established in 2008 based on the Natural Disaster Countermeasures Act. It performs diverse activities as a pillar of safety, including prevention activities for weather-related disasters, extreme heat, cold waves, and festivals, as well as recovery activities in the event of disasters. In particular, during the record-breaking heavy snowfall in November last year, the unit promptly participated in snow removal activities, serving as a great example to the local community.

Mayor Kim Sung-je said, "I express deep gratitude for the dedication and passion of the disaster prevention unit members in preventing disasters in the local community," and added, "I request your active interest and participation in prevention and response activities so that Uiwang City can continue to be a safe city."
