Kim Dong-yeon: "Gyeonggi Province's Proactive Supplementary Budget Will Be a Catalyst for Rebuilding Korea's Economy"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gab-dong] Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon stated on the 12th, "Through Gyeonggi Province's proactive supplementary budget, we will lead the central government's fiscal policy and serve as a catalyst for rebuilding Korea's economy."

Governor Kim also emphasized, "To achieve social integration, we will actively proceed with the construction of the 'Gyeonggi Independence Memorial Hall' and open and operate the Immigrant Comprehensive Support Center, preparing a new leap forward with our provincial residents."

Governor Kim Dong-yeon, at the '382nd Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Extraordinary Session, 2nd Plenary Session' held at the Provincial Assembly Plenary Hall this morning, explained the '2025 Gyeonggi Province Administration Direction' through a provincial administrative address, stressing, "We will do everything we can to improve people's livelihoods and prepare for the future."

He said, "The livelihood sectors are bleeding dry day by day. People have no leisure to watch the back-and-forth between the ruling and opposition parties, and there is no more time to wait or strength to endure. Gyeonggi Province will implement early supplementary budgets first."

To this end, the province will additionally issue local currency with provincial budget funds that had central government funding completely cut, accelerating recovery of the livelihood economy. The province will also expand export insurance premiums and financial support for export-oriented small and medium enterprises to strengthen export barriers more robustly.

Moreover, the province will invest more boldly in future revenue sources such as fabless mass production support and venture startup global fund establishment, while revitalizing construction investment through SOC expansion including roads, and more quickly restore vitality to the regional economy.

Additionally, special coordination grants that directly affect the daily lives of provincial residents will have 3 trillion won, equivalent to 60% of the total, concentrated during the first half of the year.

Governor Kim stated, "With the conviction that Gyeonggi Province is Korea's 'new normal' by boldly investing in livelihoods, the future, and integration, I will lead the 2025 provincial administration."

Accordingly, the province will implement the nation's first 'Small Business Strength-Go Card' nationwide, provide 5 million won in operating expenses to 30,000 small business owners, and expand small and medium enterprise nurturing funds by 2 trillion won.

For future investment, to lead the 'AI transformation,' the province will concentrate 100 billion won in investment in this year's 'AI transformation' and establish 'AI innovation clusters' at six major industrial hubs within the province. Additionally, the province plans to build 'AI campuses' in both the northern and southern regions of Gyeonggi, providing AI literacy education to 37,000 provincial residents while supporting global manufacturing small and medium enterprises in their AI conversion.

Furthermore, to create a sustainable integrated community for our society, the province is preparing a new leap forward with provincial residents as we mark the 80th anniversary of liberation. To this end, the province will actively proceed with the construction of the 'Gyeonggi Independence Memorial Hall,' discover and reassess the history of ordinary and diverse independence movements, and reaffirm the significance of liberation through diverse cultural events with participation from younger generations. The province also plans to take the lead in opening a society of coexistence with immigrants by opening and operating the Immigrant Comprehensive Support Center within the first half of the year.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon said, "Gyeonggi Province will take the lead in opening a new Korea," and continued, "I believe in the capabilities of 14.15 million Gyeonggi residents and our people, and I believe in the history of creating hope even amid crisis. Gyeonggi Province will be the most solid foundation of hope."
