Hwaseong City Opens Wide-Area Bus Route 5101 Between Hyundai-Kia Research Institute and Seoul Station in March

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Hwaseong Special City held an opening ceremony for wide-area bus route 5101 on the 25th in front of the rear entrance of the Hyundai-Kia Research Institute located in Jangdeok-ri, Namyang-eup.

The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 50 people including Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, Bae Jeong-su, Chairman of the Hwaseong City Council, city and provincial council members, and executives and employees of Hyundai-Kia Research Institute.

Wide-area bus route 5101 was established by the city to respond to a sharp increase in commuting demand to major areas of Seoul, and is the first wide-area bus route that connects Namyang-eup directly to Seoul Station without transfers.

The route departs from the Hyundai-Kia Research Institute (Namyang-eup) and passes through major points including Hwaseong Western Police Station, Namyang New Town, Sadang Station, Ichon Station, and Sinyongsan Station, ending at Seoul Station Bus Transfer Center.

Ten 45-seat CNG buses will be deployed to operate 40 times daily, with 30-40 minute intervals on weekdays. The one-way operating distance is approximately 60 km, and the dispatch interval and number of operations will be adjusted in the future based on actual traffic conditions and passenger demand.

Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun stated, "With the opening of this new wide-area bus route, I hope our citizens will be able to travel to Seoul Station more quickly and conveniently," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to expand wide-area bus routes and create a better public transportation environment through continuous monitoring and service improvements on the routes in operation."
