[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Um In-yong] Guri City held a '8th Popularly Elected Term Pledge Project Implementation Report' on the 28th at the situation room on the 3rd floor of City Hall to examine the implementation status of pledge projects, which are promises to citizens.
The report, chaired by Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyun, was attended by approximately 30 department heads and division chiefs from pledge implementation departments. The meeting reviewed the continuous progress of 100 completed pledge projects and conducted in-depth discussions on measures to improve the effective implementation rate of 42 ongoing pledge projects.
The 8th popularly elected term mayoral pledge projects of Guri City, aimed at leading sustainable and pleasant changes for 190,000 citizens, comprise 142 projects across 10 fields including 'a city good for raising children.' Currently, 100 projects have been completed, showing an implementation rate of 70.4%, with the remaining 42 projects being promoted in stages according to roadmap.
Major completed pledge projects include △support for school supplies for elementary, middle, and high school freshmen △establishment of smart healthcare system for families △installation of children's science library (observatory) △creation of bicycle road connecting Byeolnae Station exit to Galmae Stream △installation of park golf course at Acheon drainage pump station retention basin △installation of children's experience center in Galmae-dong △transportation cost support for severe persons with disabilities △installation of small business comprehensive support center △expansion of pet theme park installation △provision of funeral support services for low-income households △creation of bicycle rest areas along the Han River △establishment of new Galmae Lifelong Learning Center, among others.
Additionally, the city plans to complete 3 additional projects during the first half of this year: △underground conversion of power lines between Gyomun intersection and Doldari Bridge and creation of walkable street △creation of lighting gallery below Topyeong Bridge △expansion of facilities at Imun-an Lake Park and installation of convenience facilities.
Meanwhile, to strengthen trust with citizens, the city holds monthly pledge project implementation reports and discloses pledge implementation status, pledge household account, and field-specific detailed implementation plans through the city website, continuing citizen-centered city administration through transparent pledge project implementation and active communication.
Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyun stated, "The pledge projects being promoted by Guri City are not merely short-term achievements but strategic investments to enhance urban competitiveness and improve citizens' quality of life in the long term," adding "We will strictly manage project implementation schedules so that citizens can feel changes, and will concentrate all policy capabilities of the city to proactively respond to anticipated problems."
