Osan City Opens Direct Metropolitan Bus Route 5104 to Seoul Station from Segyo District... Service Begins on the 9th
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Osan City announced on the 1st that it will begin official operation of direct metropolitan bus route 5104, which provides non-stop service to Seoul Station, starting from the 9th.
With the opening of this new route, residents of the Segyo district, a representative residential area in the outskirts of the capital region, can now travel to central Seoul more quickly and conveniently.
The newly established route 5104 is a direct express bus service running from Segyo 21 Apartment Complex to Seoul Station, with six vehicles deployed to operate 24 round trips daily. During commute hours, buses will depart at 30 to 50-minute intervals, with estimated one-way travel time of approximately 80 to 100 minutes.
The Segyo district, which previously had poor accessibility to Seoul, will see strengthened connectivity to the metropolitan transit network through the opening of this new route. In particular, by reducing time wasted and inconvenience caused by transfers, it is expected to have a positive impact on improving citizens' daily mobility convenience and quality of life satisfaction.
The city plans to hold a simple commemorative event near Sema Station on the 8th to mark the start of route 5104 operations. Going forward, the city plans to actively pursue expansion of transportation infrastructure tailored to citizens' needs.
Earlier, Osan City faced delays in the opening schedule due to vehicle delivery delays and responded actively to resolve the issue. Mayor Lee Kwon-jae personally visited Hyundai Motor's Jeonju Plant located in Wanju, North Jeolla Province on March 17 to request early delivery of large buses, and obtained a commitment for cooperation from Hyundai Motor.
Mayor Lee Kwon-jae stated, "The opening of this route 5104 metropolitan bus goes beyond a simple route addition and is part of transportation infrastructure expansion that strengthens connectivity with key hubs in the capital region," and added, "Going forward, I will continue to guarantee citizens' mobility rights in Osan and steadily expand the metropolitan transit network to create a more convenient and better city to live in."
