Suwon City Launches 'Saebit Citizen 30g Daily Waste Reduction Pledge Campaign'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon City announced on the 8th that it is rolling out a 'Saebit Citizen 30g Daily Waste Reduction' pledge campaign to reduce residential waste and realize carbon neutrality.

The city is launching the campaign with a goal of reducing 13,516 tons, which is 10% of the projected 135,147 tons of residential waste for 2025. This target can be achieved if 1.23 million citizens reduce their daily residential waste by 30g. 30g is equivalent to one plastic delivery container, three takeout coffee cups, or six instant ramen packages.

The city has been running the 'Saebit Citizen 30g Daily Waste Reduction' campaign since April 19. The campaign runs through August 31, and any citizen can participate.

Citizens can make a pledge through the civic participation platform 'Saebit Talk Talk' app or website > Application Reception bulletin board, and then practice separating and disposing of 30g worth of residential waste daily.

The city plans to draw 300 citizens from those who participated in the pledge by May 31 and present them with mobile coffee gift certificates.

A city official said, "Suwon City is pursuing various policies with the goal of reducing daily waste by 30g per Saebit citizen," and added, "We hope the pledge participation campaign will form consensus among citizens and serve as an opportunity to promote separate waste disposal." The official further urged, "To create a pleasant urban environment, please dispose of waste from Monday to Thursday between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day."
