Osan City Opens Regional Bus Route 5104 Connecting Segyo 2 District to Seoul Station...Regular Service Begins on the 9th
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] A long-awaited direct express bus to Seoul Station for residents of Osan City's Segyo 2 District has been established as an official route.
On the 8th, Osan City held an opening ceremony for regional bus route 5104 near Sema Station, marking the beginning of full-scale expansion of the metropolitan transit network to Seoul.
The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 100 people, including Mayor Lee Kwon-jae, Kang Hee-up, Chair of the Metropolitan Area Transit Commission at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, members of the National Assembly, city and provincial council members, KD Transport Group officials, and local residents.
The newly established route 5104 operates from Segyo 2 District as its starting point, passing through Segyo 1 District, Sema Station, and North Osan Interchange before reaching Seoul Station. The route connects major central Seoul locations including Euljiro Entrance, Seoul Station, Namdaemun Market, and the Express Bus Terminal without requiring transfers, expected to significantly reduce transportation burdens for citizens commuting to Seoul.
The route will operate with 6 express shuttle-type regional buses, running 24 times daily round-trip on weekdays. Service operates at approximately 30-minute intervals during morning rush hours and 50-60 minute intervals at other times, with a one-way travel time of approximately 80-100 minutes.
Regional bus route 5104 will begin regular service on the 9th, with Osan City, the Metropolitan Area Transit Commission, and KD Transport Group closely monitoring initial demand and operational conditions to ensure stable establishment.
Mayor Lee Kwon-jae stated, "Given the speed of population influx into Segyo 2 District, establishing a metropolitan transit network was no longer a task that could be delayed," and added, "I will continue to do my best to improve transportation so that citizens can experience practical changes on their commute."
