Vice Mayor Jo Jung-a of Yeoju Conducts Field Inspection to Prepare for Summer Flooding and Typhoons

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Vice Mayor Jo Jung-a of Yeoju City conducted field inspections on the 2nd of landslide-prone areas in Dojeon-ri, Gangcheon-myeon and a solar development site in Dogok-ri, Geumsa-myeon to preemptively prevent damage from heavy summer rainfall, typhoons, and other natural disasters.

The inspection was conducted ahead of the rainy season to eliminate hazardous factors in disaster-vulnerable areas in advance and verify safety management conditions surrounding development sites. Officials from relevant departments of Yeoju City Hall including the Civil Safety Division, Forest and Parks Division, and Permits Division, as well as officials from administrative welfare centers overseeing local administration, participated in the inspection.

In particular, the landslide-prone area in Dojeon-ri is a region where concerns about falling rocks and soil runoff have been raised during heavy rainfall in the past. Vice Mayor Jo conducted intensive inspections of slope stability and drainage facilities at the site, and instructed that immediate evacuation procedures and evacuation information be thoroughly managed when necessary.

Additionally, the inspection of the nearby solar power development site included checks on ground disturbance from development and the status of drainage channels, and emergency response systems were put in place for potential severe weather conditions in the future.

Vice Mayor Jo Jung-a of Yeoju City stated, "Even a single rainfall could lead to major disasters," adding, "We will conduct particularly thorough inspections of landslide areas and development sites, and eliminate blind spots in safety through collaboration with local residents."
