Icheon Municipal Records Center Unveiled...Vision of 'Premium Records City' Announced
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Icheon City held the unveiling ceremony for the Icheon Municipal Records Center on the 4th and officially announced the vision of a 'Premium Records City Icheon' together with citizens.
The unveiling ceremony was organized to commemorate the third anniversary of the eighth popular election administration and the launch of the records center. It marked a symbolic beginning of records preservation and promotion of records culture in Icheon City. The event was attended by approximately 50 key figures, including Mayor Kim Kyung-hee, city council members, private record donors, and officials from affiliated records management institutions.
At the unveiling ceremony, five major visions for realizing the 'Premium Records City Icheon' were also presented.
The five visions are ▲a city of Icheon records heritage cultivated together by Icheon City and citizens ▲a city of citizen records where residents' lives are remembered through citizen participation ▲a city of records education providing customized records education for everyone ▲a city of records communication that strengthens intergenerational dialogue and regional solidarity through records ▲a city of records culture welfare where people enjoy emotional enrichment through records activities. The comprehensive plan aims to cultivate records culture together with citizens.
The Icheon Municipal Records Center plans to provide various records welfare services including systematic preservation of records, collection of private records, development of records culture content, and operation of citizen records schools. In particular, as it launches as a permanent records management institution at the basic local government level, which is rare to see, it is attracting attention as a model case for the future establishment of local records centers.
In her commemorative remarks, Mayor Kim Kyung-hee stated, "Records are the foundation of administration and a future asset of the city," and added, "I will actively support the Icheon Municipal Records Center so it can be reborn as a public archive that embraces the lives and memories of citizens."
