[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Special City and LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) held an opening ceremony for Saebbit Youth Zone No. 2 on the 10th.
The Saebbit Youth Zone, developed in accordance with the 'Customized Housing Support Business Agreement for Suwon Youth' signed between Suwon City and LH, is a project that recruits young residents according to Suwon City's own standards to move into LH's youth rental housing created through non-residential remodeling in transit-oriented development areas, and offers rental at affordable rates to provide stable housing environments for young people.
Saebbit Youth Zone No. 2 is located at 7-10, Jongjo-ro 388beon-gil, Gwonseon-gu. It spans 11,175.37 square meters across 2 basement levels and 13 above-ground floors, situated a 3-minute walk from Seryu Station. The facility contains 163 residential units (officetel) with dedicated residential areas of 23-28 square meters each.
Young adults aged 19 to 34 without property registered in Suwon can move into Saebbit Youth Zone. Recruitment for Zone No. 2 residents took place in October of last year, with 536 applicants.
70% of the recruitment quota (114 people) were selected from young adults meeting 'Suwon Youth Priority Admission Standards' in order of highest scores, while 30% (49 people) were selected from general young adults in order of highest scores. Suwon City provided priority admission opportunities to young entrepreneurs and young artists, among other groups. Eight youth businesses also moved in.
The opening ceremony was attended by Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun, Suwon City Council Chairman Lee Jae-sik, Councilor Yeom Tae-young (Suwon District), Suwon City Council members, LH President Lee Han-jun, and Kwon Un-hyuk, head of the Southern Gyeonggi Regional Division.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "Suwon City will actively support young people so they can shine brighter," and added, "We will implement support policies across various sectors including housing, employment, education, welfare, and culture so that young people can lead better lives."
The rental period for Saebbit Youth Zone is 2 years, with renewal possible up to 4 times in 2-year intervals. For recipients of basic livelihood, medical, or housing benefits, the deposit is 1 million won and monthly rent is 40% of market rates (253,300 to 273,350 won). For other young adults, the deposit is 2 million won and monthly rent is 50% of market rates (308,860 to 333,820 won).
