"The Core of Metropolitan Seoul's East, Hanam Rises"… Mayor Lee Hyun-jae Delivers Special Lecture to Real Estate Agents Association

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] On the 14th, Mayor Lee Hyun-jae of Hanam City held a special lecture at the main auditorium of the civic annex for approximately 200 licensed real estate agents operating in the city.

On that day, Mayor Lee delivered a lecture on the theme of "The Core of Metropolitan Seoul's East, Economic City Hanam," introducing major development projects the city is prioritizing—including ▲K-Starworld ▲Camp Colborne urban development project ▲Gyosan New City self-sufficient land development—and shared Hanam's vision for the future.

The K-Starworld development project is a mega-scale project creating a K-pop exclusive concert venue (K-Arena), film production studios, and other facilities on 1.7 million square meters of land in the Misa Island area, and was introduced as a core strategy to lead Hanam toward becoming a "global cultural and tourism city centered on K-culture."

In particular, the 570,000-square-meter Gyosan self-sufficient land is planned to begin full-scale corporate recruitment efforts this year to attract advanced industries such as software and AI, positioning Hanam as a hub city leading future industries.

Mayor Lee Hyun-jae stated, "K-Starworld is a project expected to generate approximately 30,000 direct jobs and 2.5 trillion won in economic effects. This year, the project will enter the full implementation phase through private sector recruitment. This project goes beyond simple development to serve as the central axis of a future self-sufficient city strategy to position Hanam as a global K-culture hub city," and emphasized, "According to the Korea Real Estate Board's housing price index as of May 2025, the national average is 99.96 and the Seoul metropolitan area average is 100.17, while Hanam City is 100.36, exceeding both national and metropolitan averages."

Regarding the Gyosan New City development, he added, "In line with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's announcement—a city with commutes to Seoul's downtown within 30 minutes, a city that creates jobs, a city good for raising children, and a city developed together with the community—we will develop it as a 'city growing together' that comprehensively provides transportation, employment, housing, and childcare environments."
