\r\n[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Pyeongtaek City and Wonju City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province signed a sister city agreement on the 16th at Wonju City Hall and pledged mutual support for establishing an exchange and cooperation system and promoting shared development between the two cities.
\r\n\r\nAttending the agreement ceremony were Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-seon, Chairman of Pyeongtaek City Council Kang Jung-gu, Wonju Mayor Won Kang-su, and Chairman of Wonju City Council Cho Yong-gi, along with private delegations from both cities, reaffirming their commitment to mutual cooperation to launch substantive exchanges in earnest.
\r\n\r\nThe agreement is designed to build a mutually complementary and sustainable cooperation model based on the industrial and geographic characteristics and regional resources of the two cities. Various exchange projects will be pursued in diverse sectors, including linked exchanges of semiconductor parts and materials companies, linked exchanges of regional agricultural and specialty products, and exchanges in cultural and sports fields.
\r\n\r\nMeanwhile, the two cities pledged to prepare practical benefits that citizens can directly experience, including arranging mutual discounts for tourist attractions and cultural facilities.
\r\n\r\nWon Kang-su, Mayor of Wonju, stated, "The sister city relationship with Pyeongtaek City is a shared growth strategy that encompasses not only administrative cooperation but also private exchanges," adding, "We will create synergy for joint development based on the resources of both regions."
