[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Test results show that Suwon's tap water is safe to drink.
The Suwon Water Works announced on the 17th that water quality tests conducted on purified water from Suwon's water treatment plants over the past year all received 'compliance' ratings against drinking water quality standards (59 items).
The Suwon Water Works has produced the '2025 Suwon Tap Water Quality Report,' which includes raw and purified water quality standards, water quality test results, tap water production and supply processes, and tap water-related information, and made it public to citizens on that day.
While conducting regular water quality tests, there were no non-compliant results against drinking water quality standards over the past year. Of the 59 drinking water quality standard items, 31 items showed no detection, and 28 items were all rated as compliant within water quality standards.
Raw water is tested on 38 items specified in the 'Regulations on Management of Water Sources,' including hydrogen ion concentration (pH), total organic carbon (TOC), suspended solids, dissolved oxygen, and total coliforms. Purified water is tested on a total of 59 items: △microorganisms (3 items) △inorganic substances with health hazard effects (12 items) △organic substances with health hazard effects (17 items) △disinfectants and disinfection by-products (11 items) △aesthetically affecting substances.
The Suwon Water Works installs automatic water quality measurement devices to conduct real-time water quality monitoring, and announces water quality test results monthly on the Suwon Water Works website (http://water.suwon.go.kr), the city website (http://www.suwon.go.kr), the back of water bills, and community service center bulletin boards.
The '2025 Tap Water Quality Report' is available as an electronic book (E-book) on the Suwon Water Works and Suwon City websites.
An official from the Suwon Water Works stated, "Since tap water is directly related to citizens' health, we are maintaining strict water quality management," and added, "We will do our best to supply clean tap water that citizens can trust and drink with confidence."
