Uiwang City Announces 1st Architectural Culture Awards Competition

[Suwon Ilbo=Park Chan-hyuk] Uiwang City announced on the 30th that it is accepting entries for the '1st Uiwang City Architectural Culture Awards' until August 22.

This architectural culture awards program is being held for the first time by Uiwang City to recognize outstanding architectural works that pursue an improvement in citizens' quality of life through original and dignified design and contribute to the development of Uiwang's architectural culture.

The competition targets all architectural structures in Uiwang that received usage approval before the date of the announcement, and applications can be submitted by the building owner, designer, or contractor of the relevant structure.

The city will conduct comprehensive reviews of submitted works based on originality and rationality of the architectural structure, efficiency of spatial composition, construction and maintenance conditions, landscape and landscaping, and public value. A total of 3 award winners will be selected, including 1 Grand Prize, 1 Excellence Award, and 1 Merit Award.

Awards ceremony and exhibition of the outstanding architectural works are scheduled for October. Award recipients—the building owner, designer, and contractor—will receive plaques, and the winning buildings will have bronze plates engraved with the award details attached.

To apply for the competition, applicants should prepare the required documents including an application form, work description, and work materials, and submit them in person or by mail to the Department of Architecture at Uiwang City Hall (11 Sicheong-ro).
