Uiwang City Holds Public Hearing on '2035 City Master Plan Amendment'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Uiwang City held a public hearing on the '2035 Uiwang City Master Plan Partial Amendment (Draft)' on the 6th at the city hall conference room to establish a desirable vision for the city's future and development direction.

The public hearing was conducted in the format of presenting the 2035 Uiwang City Master Plan Partial Amendment (Draft), expert discussions, and Q&A, with attendance by Mayor Kim Sung-je of Uiwang City, relevant government officials, experts, and citizens.

The 'Partial Amendment to the 2035 Uiwang City Master Plan' was implemented to reflect changes in Uiwang City's urban conditions over the past five years in accordance with the 'National Land Planning and Use Act' regarding the existing '2035 Uiwang City Master Plan' established in 2020.

This partial amendment (draft) set the target year as 2035, the same as the previously established city master plan, and set the planned population at 244,000, reflecting the population increase from the implementation of the Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan public housing project.

In particular, key amendment contents including △land use plan △infrastructure plan △other sector-specific plans were introduced based on the recalibrated planned population.

Subsequently, Professor Choi Ju-young from Daejin University, as chair, along with Professor Lee Beom-hyun from Sungkyul University, Plankworks Co., Ltd. Representative Kim Sung-hee, and Vice-Chairman Kim Tae-heung of Uiwang City Council as panelists, engaged in in-depth discussions on Uiwang City's future urban development direction and held a session to gather opinions from attending citizens.

The city plans to listen to residents' opinions and consult with relevant agencies regarding the city master plan partial amendment (draft) presented at the public hearing, and will listen to the opinions of the city council.

Additionally, the city plans to review major opinions presented in the process, make revisions and improvements, proceed with consultation from the Uiwang City Urban Planning Committee, and apply for approval from the Gyeonggi Province governor.

Mayor Kim Sung-je stated, "We will carefully examine the opinions presented at this public hearing and actively reflect them in the city master plan amendment draft," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to paint the future of Uiwang City through active communication with citizens."
