KMI Korean Medical Research Institute Donates 30 Million Won to Suwon Scholarship Foundation

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] KMI (Korean Medical Research Institute) donated 30 million won to the Suwon Scholarship Foundation, saying "please use this to nurture local talent."

Kim Soon-yi, Honorary Chair of KMI, visited Suwon City Hall on the 1st to present the donation. Since 2023, KMI has donated a total of 90 million won to the Suwon Scholarship Foundation, contributing 30 million won annually.

The ceremony was attended by Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun, Kim Soon-yi, Honorary Chair of KMI, and Park Chun-geun, Chair of the Suwon Scholarship Foundation Board.

Honorary Chair Kim said, "The Suwon Scholarship Foundation is a reliable partner that gives local youth and university students the opportunity to pursue their dreams," and added, "KMI will continue to contribute to nurturing talent and supporting education."

Park Chun-geun, Chair of the Suwon Scholarship Foundation Board, stated, "The donation will be a great strength for students to focus on their studies and pursue their dreams," and noted, "KMI's support will serve as a foundation for nurturing future talent in the local community." He further added, "We will cherish the donors' intentions, provide more opportunities to students, and share the results with the local community."

Mayor Lee said, "I am grateful to KMI for consistently donating scholarships every year for the sustainable development of Suwon's education," and pledged, "We will support Suwon's talented individuals to grow their dreams."

KMI is a health screening organization established in 1985. It operates health screening centers at eight locations nationwide, including Suwon (Gwonseon-dong), and is engaged in activities to promote public health.

Since 2004, KMI has been conducting consistent volunteer activities including providing health screenings to welfare facilities and support for low-income households. In January 2019, it established the Korea Social Contribution Foundation to actively carry out social contribution projects. Since 2023, it has donated 30 million won annually to the Suwon Scholarship Foundation.

The Suwon Scholarship Foundation, established in 2006 as an institution under Suwon City, is carrying out scholarship support projects to discover and nurture local talent. To date, it has provided scholarships totaling 11.724 billion won to 13,561 elementary, middle, high school, and university students.
