Suwon to Create 'Youth Complex Cultural Space' Including Parking at Suwon Delta Plex...Completion in 2029
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-seong] Suwon Special Metropolitan City announced on the 15th that it has been selected for the industrial complex environment development project organized by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and will complete a complex cultural space including a youth cultural center, parking facility, and cultural plaza at Suwon Delta Plex by 2029.
The project, which involves a total investment of 42.7 billion won including 13 billion won in national funds, will be carried out in the area of the Second Public Parking Lot (Lot 1107) and Baedari Park (Lot 1111) in Gaesaek-dong.
The parking-exclusive building will house a Youth Cultural Center (1st to 2nd floors, 3,500㎡) and a parking facility (2nd to 5th floors and rooftop, 11,500㎡, 430 spaces), while Baedari Park (20,929㎡) will be remodeled into an open cultural plaza. The project aims for completion in October 2029 and is scheduled to begin construction in October 2025.
The Youth Cultural Center will feature youth-friendly spaces encompassing culture, sports, and startup incubation functions, while the open cultural plaza will create rest areas and cultural spaces for workers and local residents to enjoy together.
By creating the Youth Cultural Center and parking facility together in the parking-exclusive building, the city aims to enhance accessibility and convenience while alleviating parking shortages in the surrounding area.
The city plans to sign a project agreement at the end of September and begin developing a comprehensive plan from October 2025 to formally proceed with the project.
A city official stated, “This project will solve the parking problem in Suwon Industrial Complex and play a significant role in attracting young people and revitalizing local culture,” and added, “We will create an innovative space where youth and workers can come together to improve the image of the industrial complex and bring vitality to the area.”
