Osan City Actively Proposes Key Issues at Gyeonggi Province Mayor-County Commissioner Conference

[Suwon Ilbo=Park Chan-hyuk Reporter] At the 9th regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Mayor-County Commissioner Conference on the 22nd, Osan City reiterated the necessity for standardized personnel cost realization, which it has been consistently raising, and also proposed amendments to zoning change delegation matters and support for the Together Care Center.

At the 9th regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Mayor-County Commissioner Conference held at the Wave M Hotel West on Turtle Island in Siheung City on that day, attended by 27 heads of cities and counties in the province, a total of 36 agenda items were discussed.

Among these, six priority issues including raising the province's cost-sharing rate for public management of city buses and improving standardized personnel cost penalties were decided to be re-proposed to the province and central government.

Osan City reiterated at this meeting the standardized personnel cost realization issue it has been consistently raising. Although it has secured 9.5 billion won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in the past two years, it emphasized the necessity for eliminating penalties and calculating appropriate levels, noting that more than 15 billion won is still insufficient when considering population increase and administrative demands.

Additionally, at this meeting, it formally proposed two agenda items. The first is the "amendment to zoning change delegation matters," jointly proposed with Pocheon City, which calls for expanding the authority to change zoning areas accompanied by district unit planning changes to cities and counties so that residents' long-held projects can be promoted promptly.

The second is improving the elementary school childcare environment. Osan City requested support for facility relocation installation costs, equipment expenses, and renovation costs for the Together Care Center. Currently, 19 centers are operated in vacant community spaces, and the city explained that the spaces are cramped and facility deterioration is severe.

Osan City Mayor Lee Gwon-jae stated, "We will actively discover locally customized policies and systems to vigorously advance the second half of the 8th term, and strengthen substantive governance collaboration with cities and counties in the province."
