Icheon City Holds 30th Icheon Citizens' Day Commemoration Ceremony

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Icheon City held the '30th Icheon Citizens' Day Commemoration Ceremony' on the 30th at Icheon Art Hall's Grand Concert Hall.

The ceremony was attended by approximately 1,000 people including Mayor Kim Kyung-hee, National Assembly Member Song Seok-jun, City Council Chair Park Myeong-seo, meritorious citizens, heads of organizations and civic groups, and residents, where they celebrated Icheon City's development and pledged together to pursue future vision.

The event began with performances by the percussion group 'Bukullim' and the electronic string ensemble 'Lucid,' followed by a reading of the Citizens' Charter, commendations for meritorious service, commemorative addresses and congratulatory remarks, and a screening of a commemorative video.

In particular, through a future vision performance and citizen chorus, the slogan "30 Years Built Together, Running Forward for 100 Years" was shared with citizens and received great response.

At the meritorious citizen commendation ceremony, citizens who contributed to Icheon City's development received awards including △Gyeonggi Provincial Citizens Award △Icheon City Culture Award △Municipal Development Merit Award △Model Citizen Award, honoring the recipients' dedication and contributions.

Mayor Kim Kyung-hee stated, "Over the past 30 years, Icheon has grown from an agriculture-centered city to one where advanced industries and culture blend together," and added, "Moving forward, with the belief that citizens' lives are Icheon's history and the city's dreams are Icheon's future, I will continue to be with all citizens as we grow into a city of respect for the elderly, a city of opportunity for youth, and a city where children's dreams flourish until the end."
