Osan City Boosts Urban Value Through 'Apartment Landscape Lighting Support Project'

[Suwon Ilbo=Park Chan-hyuk] Apartment complexes throughout Osan City are now bathed in colorful light when night falls.

This is as the apartment complex nighttime landscape lighting installation subsidy support project, which Mayor Lee Kwon-jae of the 8th civilian government has been pushing as a key initiative under the comprehensive nighttime landscape plan, is proceeding with great success.

According to the city on the 14th, this project has been pursued as part of Mayor Lee Kwon-jae's urban brand value enhancement project for the 8th civilian government.

In the case of Osan City, compared to the nearby Hwaseong Dongtan New City, there was a shortage or absence of landscape lighting, leading to assessments that the city appeared overall dark. Most apartment complexes along Gyeongbu Expressway are positioned facing south, and since they do not illuminate the expressway, the entire city appears dark.

In response, Mayor Lee visited apartment complexes shortly after taking office in the 8th civilian government and held open forums to hear opinions on apartment landscape lighting installation, gathering residents' views. Through this process, positive responses emerged from citizens regarding landscape lighting installation at apartment complexes, and based on this, the city proceeded with the landscape lighting installation subsidy support project.

Through the nighttime landscape lighting installation subsidy support project, the city completed projects from 2023-2024 at nine complexes including Sema Truelfirst, Sema Hyoseong Baeknyeon Gabyak, Wondong Hanyang Sujain, Osan Station Hoban Summit, Cityzae 2 Complex, Jungmi Village Huton 9 Complex, Osan Station Segyo Zae, Hansol Solpark, and Wondong Prugio.

This year, 18 complexes were selected as project targets, and as of September, Yangsan-dong Neulpureun Oscar Ville, Halla Green Town, Unam Jugong 1 Complex, Osan Station Dream Green, Osan Station Elcrew, and Sindonga 2nd have completed their lighting ceremonies.

For newly constructed apartments, landscape lighting installation will be mandatory.

Mayor Lee Kwon-jae stated, "When Osan is perceived as a bright city compared to neighboring cities, the city's brand value will improve and it can emerge as a more desirable place to live," and added, "We will continue to pay close attention to ensure this project proceeds successfully."
